ARTIST STATEMENT
I see the world in frames.
My passion for photography was preceeded by a passion for the environment. With an undergraduate degree in fisheries and wildlife, I knew that I wanted my life's work to revolve around making a positive impact on our planet. It took me a few years to realize that I could combine my love of photography with my love of nature, and document the beauty that surrounds us every day.
From 2009 to 2011, I worked for the Concord Monitor newspaper. I was lucky enough to document both the people of New Hampshire and the amazing natural environment here. I fell in love with New Hampshire's seasons, specifically it's icy winters, and almost all of the prints in this show were photographed here in the Granite State.
I am consistently inspired by mundane scenes that I used to take for granted. I catch myself pausing to study the icy patterns under a frozen stream, an isolated tree filled with impatient birds, or the tiniest dew drops on a single flower petal.
In looking at life a little closer with a camera, I hope to inspire people to see the beauty that surrounds us every day.
10% of the proceeds from sales of this show will be donated to the Natural Resources Defense Council.
