Red River Theatres pushes to complete Capital Campaign.
Gifts to be matched by mystery philanthropists!

Red River Theatres has raised over $1.63 million towards its $1.83 million campaign goal. With the grand opening next month, Board members, staff and volunteers are making the final push to complete the campaign.

This effort has recently been made easier with a cumulative gift of $25,000 from three mystery philanthropists. These monies are to be used as a 1:1 match for all donations and pledges that come to the theater between now and opening, which will be in mid-October.

“This was great news!” says Robbi Farschman, Executive Director. “We’ve been doing a super job raising funds and have raised more than $625,000 since February, when I joined the organization. We are tantalizingly close to our goal. We have many plates spinning to help us wrap us the capital campaign, including a phone-a-thon next week and several house parties. This generous offer is exactly what we needed to inspire folks to make that donation they’ve been considering. In light of the matching funds, we’re really looking to the community to help us with the final $175,000 – we are absolutely within reach.”

Red River’s three-screen theater will be open in a few short weeks in the lower two levels of Capital Commons, located at 11 South Main Street in Concord. Two of the theaters will provide stadium seating and will be equipped with 35-mm projection equipment and Dolby surround sound. The larger of the two theaters will seat approximately 170 individuals while the smaller will seat approximately 110. Both theaters will also include an area for live performances and lectures. The third theater will be a screening room and multi-function hall, with a 48-seat capacity and DVD projection equipment. This space will be used to help launch New Hampshire filmmakers and may be rented out for meetings and receptions.

Work on the theater is wrapping up in the next few weeks. This week the popcorn machine will be installed, next week the chairs and projection room equipment. Then carpet and finishing touches will make the dream of Red River Theatres a reality. “Don’t let this community effort go by without your involvement,” encourages Board Chair, Emily Rice. “There is still time to make a contribution to Red River Theatres to finish its capital campaign and bring it to opening day. There are still opportunities to put your name in the theater. Please add your name to the many, many individuals, families, and local businesses who have contributed to building this theater from the ground up.”

Imagine this theater ten years from now: a regional institution bringing affordable, high-quality cultural experiences to the greater Concord community; a partner to area schools and colleges whose students are passionate about the flexible, endlessly variable medium of film; an economic driver for Concord’s downtown that has breathed fresh life and energy into Main Street’s evening hours.

Says Farschman, “It’s really happening! And now is your chance to say that you were a part of this theater from the beginning.”
